This is a video me and my friend made for Nakita ( She has Down Syndrome )
Last Sunday I joined in on the Laguna Paradise Fun Run. There are 5 races that you can enter in: 42 km Marathon 21 km Half 10.5 km Quater 5 km community walk/run 2 km Fun run Last year I joined in on the 2km run, but this year I did the 5km run, it was very hard I felt like I was going to die! This year I barely had any practice, so next year I am definitely going to train more and beat my time of 32minutes!!!!!!! We had Family Night on the 5th of June. On Family Night we present our passions and talents, it´s really fun! We started off Family Night by looking at all the students work that they had to show and could not be presented. After looking at their work we had 5 minutes to get food and go down to the garden (The stage area) I was the MC so I had to get everybody organised! It was very hard, adults are really stubborn! Acts: I did two acts, both with Shakira and Connie, we did mixes. The first mix we messed up, but our second one was awesome! Movies: I made two movies, one for Taiji and the other for Nakita (Nakita is born with down syndrome) Food: The food was really good! My family brought Mac and Cheese, for dessert we brought Honey Joys, they were delicious!!!!! This is my explanation of how the fish got into the garden: I believe that the fish was swimming in the lake when it got caught in a fishing line. The fisherman pulled it up, but the fish looked too fishy so he left the fish there to die. When the man left, a bird came and picked the fish up, while the bird was flying he lost his balance and dropped the fish onto a buffalo´s back. The fish travelled on the buffalo´s back for ages. When the buffalo stopped and sat down to do a poo the fish slid off the back of the buffalo and into it´s poo. The fish survived in the moist poo for several days, when suddenly the fish heard children he was relieved for he might be saved. A few seconds later a giant shovel picked up the poo he was in and stuck him and the poo into a wheel barrow, he was off again! When the wheel barrow stopped, the giant shovel picked the fish and the poo up again, now he was swimming in a mixture of poo, fruit and dead leaves, HE WAS IN THE COMPOST!!!!!! Last night it rained so hard that the school flooded, the fish swam out of the compost. When the sun started to dry up all the rain, the fish flopped all over Gecko until he found the patch of dirt. And that´s when the fish´s hero, Jack P, saved him. And that is how the fish got into Gecko School garden. We went to camp on the 27th of May to Sawasdee Lagoon.
Everyone was really excited to go so we gave the bus drivers a terrible time on the way. When we got to camp we had our lunch and picked our tents, I shared a tent with Connie and Shakira, we had the best tent because it was soooo quiet, but we were really far away from the toilets. On the first day of camp we went swimming in the lake for hours, nobody knew that the lake was filled with this weird stuff that stuck to your hairs, so in the end we were orange! After swimming we had dinner which was really yummy! After dinner we had some games, then we went to bed. The government people were having a party near our tent and they were doing karaoke, they sounded terrible. On the second day of camp we split into teams, the team with the most points would get to go to Swensons. My first activity was kayaking it was AWESOME!!!!! Me and Alex found a crystal blue part of the lake and it was FREEZINGGGGGG! Our second activity was baking we made honey joys, they were really good! Our last activity for that day was sports, we did sports with another group, we played capture the flag, they kicked our butts! After dinner we had our talent show, my group won (of course) because we were AMAZING!!!!! After the talent show we played a whole load of games, my favourite game was the one where you had roll a six, if you rolled a six you had to dress up then eat the candy in the middle, if someone else rolled a six while you are in the middle you have to stop whatever you are doing, I was AWESOME at that game and I got sooooo much candy. After the games we had a campfire. We roasted yummy marshmallows, we always ate them after we set them on fire! JJ did not like marshmallows and I was very bad at cooking them, but he loved cooking them so he made mine and his for me and I ate a whole load of MARSHMALLOWS that night. On the last day of camp I had my last session of sports, we played T-BALL. I made 4 rounders and I was very proud of myself. For the rest of the day we played and hung out around Sawasdee Lagoon then we went home. I was really happy to be home even though I will miss it there. My team did not win but my sister´s did, but I did not mind because I got some ice cream on the day she went to Swensons. This is the song I wrote about the slaughter in Taiji,Japan
A fantastic team performance today at BIS, precision passing, solid defending, amazing individual runs, fearless goal keeping, Messi like goals and a general one for all, all for one mentality. Well done, boys and girls.
Game 1 BIS played well early on and were unlucky not to score when a ball was driven in and hit the post. Pressure told and soon they were 1-0 up with an easy tap in. Gecko hit back with a searching pass from Alex that found Harry who found the back of the net. 1-1 and a fair result overall. Game 2 An even game early on. Sofia made some great saves and then Gecko were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Jack B stepped up and scored a beauty. 1-0. A fantastic passage of play followed with Jack B hitting the post, Alex just shooting wide, Jack B hit the post again and it rebounded along the goal line and then finally Connor shot, a good save but Alex was there to knock it in, 2-0, a good win. Game 3 A thunderbolt early in the game by Alex set the tone for this match and Gecko were 1-0 up early. He soon got his second after a fine run, 2-0. Jack B could have scored a brace if it wasn’t for the posts, he hit it again! A lovely pass by him late in the game set up Connor who scored what I believe was his first goal for GFC. 3-0 and a convincing victory. Game 4 The boys and girls of GFC got off to a great start again with a burst through by Jack B and a shot just over the bar. Good work by the defence and midfield set him up for the first goal of this game, 1-0. The defending by Jack P, Ashley and JJ was excellent all afternoon and it set up Connor’s second chance of the day and he took it to put both the Breit boys on the score sheet. 2-0. That was not the end of it though, a truly amazing run by Harry from near his own goal line sliced the BIS defence, he put Jack B through who took his second chance of the game and made it a convincing 3-0 victory and a great afternoon out at BIS. Man / Woman of the match – A very tough choice but it has to go to Jack Power great work in defence . Well done. Man / Woman of the match my opinion-Connor for his great passes, dribbling and awesome goals Many thanks to Simon and BIS for hosting us and we look forward to playing again. We are children from Gecko School Phuket who strongly believe that no dolphins, whales or any sea life should be in captivity. We have even gone to Taiji and seen how they are really captured, have any of your staff ever been there?
In Sea World you say that you have “sandy bottom pools”, even if you do have sandy bottom pools it has no comparison to the depth of the sea.If you had world class facilities and your animals are really happy they would not be trying to kill their trainers. You say that you have an exemplary record for animal care and rescue, well having animals in captivity is not rescuing them it is putting them through hell.It would be better if the dolphins and whales were endangered and you were breeding them and putting them back into the wild but...you aren´t, you are probably one of the reasons that they are endangered, is that really animal care and rescue? Sea World teaches people about animals which means you would know allot about dolphins, well do you know that dolphins have very sensitive skin and people touching them could cause them stress which could make them suicidal, I guess you already know that though because you have lots of research on all of your animals, but you do it anyway which shows that animal care is not your upmost priority but money is. Your aims are to support local and global marine conservation issues, well have you ever thought that your dolphinariums might be one?Having animals in dolphinariums is not supporting conservation issues, taking animals out of the wild is not protecting them but could effect the whole ecosystem! Now you say that you don´t take dolphins out of Australian waters. Dolphins migrate through Australia so if you take the dolphins out of the water somewhere else you could be taking some that travelled through Australian waters, so what is the difference. Taiji is a place where they hunt dolphins for captivity and they also eat them. You say you don´t support Taiji, but places like yours and other dolphinariums do. You support them by having dolphins in captivity which makes them hunt more because they make big bucks per dolphin. As long as they know there are places like you who need lots of dolphins because they keep dying while in captivity they will keep doing what they are doing. In conclusion we do not agree with Sea World or what any of the dolphinariums are doing to marine life. We here at Gecko School and lots of other activist won´t stop till you and other dolphinariums shut down, so if you are smart you will shut down your Sea Worlds before you are ashamed and embarrassed by your inhumanity towards sea life. Hope you will take to mind our facts and make a smart decision. From, Gecko School Students When I first heard that there was a dolphin near shore I ran down as fast as I could because I could not believe it.I was really excited and went into the water to watch it swim by and watch the search and rescue foundation to grab him.Once they got the dolphin they told everyone to come and touch it, I really wanted to touch it but I
could not do it.When I heard that he had something wrong with it and that they were taking the dolphin to the hospital I was happy because they said that they will let it go afterwards.I don´t think letting him go would not have much difference because he was going to die anyway in the wild, because the dolphin did not have his mum or his pod, but I guess he would of died where he came from and not in the back of the truck with a damp towel over him.I guess I have mixed feelings…….but that is my opinion. At school we are learning about being sustainable and not wasting money. So we decided to get our electricity bills from last year, and compare how much we spend, If we spend less we save the money that we have left over from the original price. This is how we are doing so far.
